Ken Faw spends his time serving in the community as an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist. His passion is investing in people. During his time in the office at Evergreen Hospital he oversee’s a major medical division and helps hundreds of people every week.
Outside of the office Ken leads an extensive division of Bible Study Fellowship and dreams of steelhead fishing. I have been fishing with Dr. Faw for the past year. We have had many exciting trips with opportunities for salmon and steelhead. One of our finest trips happened last season on the Olympic Peninsula when we hooked into several King Salmon that left us stunned by their power and fierce fighting ability.
Our latest trip on the Cowlitz River was one for the memory books. Sliding the boat in the river on an early September afternoon we skated down into a beautiful run. In this stretch we setup to swing small summer wet flies for steelhead. Our rod choice for the day was a single handed 8 weight with a 10ft sink tip and 6ft fluorocarbon leader.
At the beginning of the riffle Ken caught several small cutthroat and juvenile steelhead. Towards the middle to tail water the lunker’s lurked in the deep green slick. With a perfect cast gliding across the aquifer a violet grab rattle Kens rod. He pulled back sliding the small fly into the mouth corner of a beautiful summer run fish.
After a long battle filled with ariel projections and tireless runs the Doc came away victorious.
